Dabble in graphic arts long enough and you’ll eventually find yourself creating text effects in Photoshop. Text effects are a great way to hone your skills and flex your creative muscle. It’s always handy to have a library of ready-to-go text effects for when the situation calls for one. In this tutorial, we’ll present methods for three popular effects that should be staples in your arsenal of text effects.

If you’ve ever got an application back with a big red ‘Rejected’ stamp on it and your initial thought was “I wonder if I could make that in Photoshop?”, then our first effect is for you! The classic rubber stamp effect is always useful for adding dramatic emphasis to a design. Why do we touch ‘Wet Paint’ signs? Do we have to find out if the paint is really wet? This may well be one of the great mysteries and we won’t try to solve it here.
